Progession in the game doesn't feel as rewarding as other Rogue-likes. There just doesn't seem to be much motivation to it.. i paid a dollar for this game on a third party site, and can honestly say i got my money's worth.if i had paid a cent more i'd be pretty♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥off.the fact people pay full price for this hurts my soul.don't get me wrong, it REALLY is a fun game, but... the amount of content, well... i have played mobile games i got for free with more content and a more put together story line.it's a great time killer seeing the entire point of the game is to senselessly grind the same monsters over, and over, and over again until you eventually die, only to wash, rinse and repeat.long story short, unless you have a scrooge mc'duckian pool filled with gold coins, you'd be a complete fool to buy this game for full price.. Let me preface this by saying I mostly play Co-op games so if you're looking for single player I might recommend this to you. When played alone the gameplay is fluid and the echoes balance the games difficulty out depending how bad you are/how much trouble you're having. As for the state the game when played with the Echo-Coop... I cannot recommend this game right now. I had glaring issues even trying to get in the same world as my co-op partner and once we did get to experience what it was like to play as an echo it was completely underwhelming. Echo damage felt negiligible depending on which class you were assigned, there is no way to choose which class of echo you spawn in as, and to top it all off echoes laggily teleport to the host if they moved slightly off screen which makes melee echoes problematic,. Over the past 3 years I have developed an affinity for indie games of all shapes and sizes. I haven't played alot of indie games and i'm not an expert in this genre but I am becoming a fan of this genre. In Next up Hero, you take control of nine legendary Heroes in their quest to stop the "Ceaselss Dirge". Next Up Hero is a 2D action game that is driven by us, the gaming community. In this game, death is common and being assisted after death in finishing a level gives the shared achievement of victory. When you die in the game you become what is known as an echo, whom you can resurrect. This echo can be used to fight with you and also when you collect enough echos, you can call upon an "ancient", These ancients are useful in your very difficult battle to stop the Ceaseless Dirge. Next Up Hero is also a game with loads of customization. You can customize your Hero is so many ways, the possiblities are endless. This is a game you really should want to try. It is also releasing on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and of course PC. Its currently a Steam Early access game and well worth the money! Here is a breakdown of my rating. Gameplay: 5Grahpics: 4.5Sound: 5Character Design: 5Replayability: 5Total: 5/5 This a must play indie game that hang up there with the big boys!!. I'm not the best at real-time strategies, but I'll give Next Up Hero props for bringing unique ideas to the table. The only other game I've played where players have to "work" together to solve the game is The Isle and I've had mixed experiences with that one. Here, players are rewarded by dying and the death of one hero will boost the next. Combine this with the Ventures changing from running around in the dark to boulders falling from the sky, I guarantee you're not going to get bored. The story isn't to in-depth from what I've seen, but I didn't go in expecting to have a life changing experience. The only thing for me is I never had the chance to act as a "guardian angel" which is where you take over the Echo (what the dead heroes are referred to) so you're able to heal another character. I do wish there was an option to just randomly help another player without having to wait for them to raise your Echo. Please check out my full review here at the Popzara website: http://www.popzara.com/games/game-reviews/next-up-hero/. OK, I just got angry at this game. Random spikes out of no where and the darkness in areas. both are a pain. I am sorry but them have to go.. Been playing this game since the beta. It's a lot of fun. I like hopping in a game and just going on an adventure.. I wouldn't recommend this game in it's early state just because there is very little to do. There is only a few different levels and they are so hard that the point of the game is to do those same ones over and over. So if that is your thing and that is all you need then you will love this! To help you better understand it, The only levels you play are player created ones. So you can jump in to where they died and continue to play it until your dead. Or open/start your own and play it. The few characters they have are all amazing in theory when you are reading and going through them, but the issue is that the enemies hit so hard that you have a hard time getting close to them. And at least half of the characters are melee...Which sadly makes it kind of stupid to choose them. And on top of that there is no way to heal yourself at all. And how that works is when you die you can watch and heal the other person playing until you can jump in yourself. But this isn't available till level 4. And i was only able to get to level 2 in 2 hours. So i estimate (though i could be wrong) that it will then take 3 1/2-4 hours to unlock that. Which will be nice when you can do it but still makes it very difficult because enemies can take you out in seconds and you have no way of healing yourself...So you just have to hope someone will come along and heal you or play with friends that are at least level 4. So to sum it up i did like this game but it is to early to recommend. Especially with the price point. I would wait till it at least goes down to $10 before i can start to recommend it at this point.. Next Up Hero has this cool concept of when you die, you get stronger. It may be in its early stages and not have a lot to do at the moment, but I see lots of potential for it in the future, each hero has their own playstyle, which I love. You will die a lot, you will rage a lot, but all in all, it's a fun game, and has great potential to be better as time goes on.If you're not sure about picking this game up, I'd suggest waiting on sale, but the dev's do seem to care and listen to their players, and are working very hard at improving the game and making it as good as it can be.I may have received the product for free, but it in no way influenced my opinion on the game whatsoever.
